Specops Brand AK Magazine Chest Harness
![]()
New from
Specops Brand this Chest harness is the answer to troops, survivors, and
security personnel who opt for the AK as their personal
weapon. Several news reports coming out of Iraq and
Afghanistan tell of US troops using captured AKs in the rugged desert
environments. What is usually lacking is a good quality option
for carrying spare magazines - until now.
The chest harness is as rugged and carries the same warranty is
the rest of the Specops brand product line. Something that has been
lacking on a gear market that seems dominated by cheaply made imports from
Russia and very costly (albeit high quality) limited production custom
gear. Four pouches hold two AK-47 or AK 74 30 shot magazines each while a fifth pouch is adjustable for most small to medium sized radios and
seems to be a perfect fit for the 2-meter types used by various government
contractors and well equipped survival groups. The pouches are large
enough to fit the 40 shot magazines used with the HK93. The straps inside
each pouch can be adjusted to fit shorter mags without "burying" them
down inside the pouch. This feature mags the chest rig extremely
versatile for use with a wide variety of assault rifles.
One major
advantage of this chest rig is that the strap system itself is fairly simple;
just one set of "X" straps and one set of optional use quick release
belt tie downs at the front. A user can quietly don the chest
rig within seconds since it is not necessary to snap or zip anything to put it
on or take it off. Another major advantage is that it will not
interfere with sitting in a vehicle the way conventional webgear or tactical
vests usually do. The shoulder straps are lightly padded as seen
here.
Another
interesting feature is the system of straps inside the magazine
pouches. As you insert a magazine into the pouch, a wide web strap
is pushed into the pocket. The end of the strap has Velcro that will
attach just outside the pocket, underneath the fastex buckles.
Rather than picking the magazine out with your fingers or using a magpul, you
can simply tug on the strap to lift the magazine out of the
pouch. Once the magazine is far out enough for you to grab it,
you simply grasp it as you would to insert it into the rifle.
The AK chest rig carries the same limited lifetime warranty as all other Specops Brand gear repair or replacement for no more than the cost of sending it back. Available in Olive Drab, Woodland Camo, Black, and Desert Tan. Cost is $90 each. Contact alexo53@hotmail.com to order
