Most of this site deals with survival from the standpoint of the armed survivalist preparing for various scenarios, some likely, some perhaps not so realistic. On the other hand anyone can end up in a primitive survival situation. These situations are often so unique, that they are not always classified in the threat levels of what we normally consider survival scenarios that a person can prepare for. Fortunately, the best preparation for these unforeseen scenarios is readily available - learn tricks that can do if you end up in these situations.
Getting stuck out in the middle of nowhere without supplies, or even with ample supplies but isolated from your comfort level can really suck. In fact, it can be life threatening for even the most resourceful. Even worse, injuries and other problems from a badly handled survival situation can give negative repercussions for the rest of your life.
The "live in the woods and eat bark" kind of survival is something that most civilized people hope to avoid, and in reality, nature cannot sustain the human population suddenly shifting into hunter/gatherer mode. Don't fool yourself into thinking that the ability to hunt deer with a homemade bow is going to sustain you in the midst of a major disaster if the rest of the population has decided to bail out of the cities and go to the same woods you have to live the same way you do as a hunter / gatherer. On the other hand, if your life has "slipped through the cracks" of the social safety net, or you are stuck out somewhere, or need to "lay low" out in the middle of nowhere for a spell, then this kind of knowledge is good to have.
I will be building more on to this part of the website as my knowledge base progresses in this field, and as I am able to obtain original pictures and articles.
For the time being, I am going to begin with posting some links to other websites that deal more with these related subjects.
Tracker Trail - a website about famed Survival guru Tom Brown. Tom Brown has been on several television news shows as a subject matter expert and runs his own survival skill based on skills learned as an apprentice to an American Indian survival expert. I don't fly with some of their "spiritual" beliefs, but the survival information is good.
