Looks like the body armor section is growing here. I have limited quantities of most of the items listed here. As usual, we are willing to take trades on body armor and are currently looking for Interceptor armor in size large and extra large, SAPI plates in any sizes, PASGT armor and RBA in large and extra large. No export on level III armor unless it is considered surplus (must be used and out of warranty).
I have personally tested PASGT armor and found that it will perform to NIJ level IIA under nearly all circumstances although the NIJ WILL NOT rate any front opening vest like the PASGT. Thus, all of the armor sold here is sold as-is without any ballistic warranty unless stated otherwise. Likewise, the helmets sold here are very much the real thing, but for liability reasons, are sold with no express or implied warranty. That said, none of the vests have been damaged, demilled, or decommissioned in a way that would reduce their effectiveness. Kevlar and ballistic nylon do degrade with wear and age, but the effects of this are largely unknown and unpredictable. Still, used body armor makes an excellent choice for the survivor on a budget.

Body armor. This is an old ABA vest that came from a police academy
several years ago. There is no trauma plate and the elastic bands
have lost some tension, but the panels are intact. I had originally
gotten several of these vests and this is the last of this type. The
markings on the back of the panels are faded out, but all of the others in
this type in the batch were either level II or IIA. I shot one with
a 9mm and it stopped it fine. There is no ballistic warranty and
this was used as a range safety vest, not a duty vest. It will
still serve this purpose (worn over other clothing) or you can make a
concealment carrier for it. Sold as-is, but it is definitely a good
cost effective option for those who cannot afford $400 for a comparable
new vest or want a spare to leave in the bugout bag. Designed to be

German "Fleck" pattern vest. Appears to be size large. The vest is lighter than A PASGT and quite flexible. Unknown level of protection. The front is solid as this is a side opening vest. I am told that performance is near that of NIJ level IIA. A reader reports that the main panels stopped 9mm ball at close range in his tests. Performance against other IIA threats is unknown and can vary according to age and condition. The camo pattern is the best color blend to commercially available "Realtree" camo found at chain stores. |

AKA, "The Diaper". Commonly issued to aircrew and airmobile units late in the Vietnam war up to Desert Storm. This is one of the rarest elements of the PASGT armor system. Fits size 34 waist. |

tried and true PASGT armor in use by the US military since the
1980s. Engineered to be compatible with all load bearing vests and
harness systems in use by the US military. Provides excellent
protection against fragment and some protection against small arms fire
(handgun, shotgun and subgun rounds, but NOT rifle fire) but lacks blunt
trauma protection.
I have personally tested some fairly trashed samples of PASGT armor and found that they perform quite well against nearly all handgun rounds but lack much in the way of blunt trauma protection. .44 magnum did not penetrate, but hit with such force that it was obvious such a hit would probably be fatal anyway. ALL centerfire rifle rounds we tested zipped right through both sides of the vest we used in the evaluation. Usually worn over other clothing. |

 USGI CVC
armor. This armor was specifically engineered for armor crew members who need a lighter and more compact vest than the PASGT. It is of a more conventional "police" design but without the "shirt tails". Note that this armor is generally sized a tad short and extends only about to the belly button on most people. Reason being that most armor crewmen only expose their upper torso outside the vehicle. Protection level is unknown. This armor can be worn under other clothing. Tankers will generally wear it over the CVC suit and under the jacket. For security and civilian wear, put it on between a T-shirt and normal clothing. |

rear tail for tucking in (the guy in the picture is wearing it this way
for demonstration purposes only). Full Level II protection is
better than IIA, but not quite as bullet protective as IIIA.
However, the more complex construction of this vest makes it more
protective against stabbing attacks, which a lot of traditional armor is
not well made for. This provides more protection against
unconventional penetration threats including some (but not all) special
weapons and ammunition.
These are in common use by bodyguards and law enforcement who work in high
threat situations where potential attackers may easily mask their hostile
intent until they are within close striking distance. |
